Göran Gezelius – new President and CEO at Gunnebo

The Board of Gunnebo AB has appointed Göran Gezelius as the company’s new President and CEO with effect from May 2, 2005. Göran Gezelius is currently Senior Executive Vice President of Atlas Copco AB and Business Area Executive Industrial Technique.

Göran Gezelius (54) has solid experience from senior management positions in both manufacturing and marketing and sales, mainly with the Sandvik and Atlas Copco Groups. Göran Gezelius joined the Sandvik group in 1982. Between then and 2000 he held several management positions within Sandvik, including that of marketing director at Seco Tools. Between 1988 and 2000 he was head of Sandvik’s Saws & Tools Business Area. Göran Gezelius has been Senior Executive Vice President at Atlas Copco since 2000, where he is currently head of the Industrial Technique business area, which has annual sales of some 10 billion SEK. He has a degree in Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and another in Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics. “After a very thorough recruitment process in the autumn we have decided that Göran Gezelius has the right management capabilities and the solid international business experience that are needed to further develop Gunnebo’s business over the coming years,” says Roger Holtback, Chairman of Gunnebo. “I have had the privilege of working for international groups for more than twenty years, and with Gunnebo, 90 per cent of whose sales are outside Sweden, I can continue to develop its international business. The group’s very rapid growth over the past decade, and its strong market position in the security industry are factors that determined my choice of Gunnebo. I believe that the distribution of Gunnebo Industrier to Gunnebo’s shareholders and the concentration of Gunnebo on security are sound moves. It will be very exciting to contribute to the further development of the Gunnebo security group,” says Göran Gezelius, who will join the company in the spring, and take over as President and CEO on May 2, 2005. Gezelius will receive a salary and other benefits that are commensurate with those of the current President and CEO Bjarne Holmqvist.
