Gunnebo delivers machine protection solution to BMW's new engine factory in England Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Troax UK Ltd, security group Gunnebo has an all-in contract to supply machine protection solutions for BMW's new engine factory near Birmingham, England. The factory, which at full capacity will employ a workforce of 1,500, is to supply 400,000 engines to BMW's plants in Germany, South Africa and the USA. Demands on machine protection in the automated engine factory are extremely high and Swisslog, main contractor for the automated materials handling equipment, chose Troax's Safe-T system for permanent safety panels and doors fitted with Safe Lock, Troax's patented three-phase locking system. The total value of the order to BMW's engine factory is just over MSEK 3.5. The delivery has included space-efficient machine guarding systems for a fully automated storage facility that is kept isolated from people working nearby. Troax's Safe-T machine guarding system has been developed to meet the highest demands on personal safety, and satisfies the requirements of the EU Machine Directive and the national legislation of each of the countries involved. Safe-T has been tested in statistical and dynamic deformation tests, and has been found to comply with all known existing and planned EU's safety norms. The machine guarding system was manufactured at Gunnebo Troax's Swedish factory in Hillerstorp and at Troax Lee Manufacturing Ltd. in Kingswinford, England.
