Gunnebo has signed a letter of intent to acquire the German Leicher group. This will strengthen its position in automated cash handling. Leicher GmbH was founded in 1870, and for many years has been one of the leading suppliers on the German market for automated safe deposit boxes, high security bank products and their installation and service. In recent years, Leicher GmbH has successfully developed and marketed products for efficient cash handling, new models of automated safe deposit boxes, including software, and now has a complete range of products for self-service banks. Leicher GmbH, located outside Munich with production in Markersdorf in eastern Germany, has a turnover of some MSEK 250 and 170 employees, of which 160 are in Germany. Leicher GmbH also has sales companies in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. Gunnebo will take over Leicher GmbH in mid 2002, providing that the German competition authorities consent to the acquisition.
