Gunnebo Industrier acquires Norwegian company within the lifting sector Gunnebo Industrier AB has reached an agreement today to acquire all the shares in Norwegian company Andr Jacobsen A/S (ANJA) with completion April 2, 2001. The company was founded in 1918 and is owned by its president, Atle Jacobsen, and his two cousins. ANJA, which is located outside Bergen, has 50 full-time employees and a turnover of MNOK 46. Profitability is very good and the production equipment, which is modern, includes a forge, a machining unit, and heat treatment and finishing/surface treatment sections. ANJA is active in two main areas: sub-contract forging of lifting hooks, for which Gunnebo Lifting is the largest customer; and the manufacture and sale of range of proprietary products, mainly shackles and rigging screws. ANJA has state-of-the-art competence in special shackles for marine use, for which the offshore and fish farming industries are large customers. The company will continue to trade under its own name and with the same management.
