As previously announced, the Gunnebo Security Group is within the action program “Get It Right” planning to implement a number of restructuring measures, with the aim of gradually reducing its costs by MSEK 500 up to 2012 and strengthening its market positions.

The restructuring measures partly entail streamlining the Group’s industrial platform and this process has been initiated at the operational plant in Kempston/Bedford, UK. A period of consultation with all interested parties has begun, to discuss the plant’s closure, an action that would result in the loss of employment for 21 employees. Gunnebo currently produces from this factory a wide range of high performance security products; this includes steel, wooden and prison security doors, modular walling, screens, partitions, counters and transfer solutions. Group operations will not lose the revenue generated from these product sales as subsequent to the proposed closure, the product portfolio will be transferred to other production units within Gunnebo in the UK. If the Group is to strengthen its market positions and increase competitiveness changes like this is unfortunately necessary. It is always regrettable to plan measures that affect employees negatively,” says Tomas Wängberg, SvP Operations Gunnebo AB.
