Gunnebo receives MSEK 22 order from Banco de España for total installation of electronic fire detection system

International security group Gunnebo has received an order through its wholly-owned Spanish subsidiary Fichet Sistemas y Servicios SA for the complete installation of an electronic fire detection system at the head office of Banco de España in Madrid, Spain’s central bank.

The order amounts to MSEK 22 and is expected to be filled in stages between now and 2007. Negotiations regarding a service agreement covering the installation will start in the near future. The greater part of the technologically advanced fire detection system consists of detectors, surveillance panels, and an independent electronic power supply for the installation. One challenge was to install an emergency evacuation alarm that would ensure that everyone on the bank’s premises would hear the alarm and that they would receive prompt information about what is happening and where they should go if the premises need to be evacuated. Banco de España’s head office occupies five buildings located in the centre of Madrid and built in the 1880s. From the customer’s point of view it is important that the fire detective system is not obtrusive and does not clash with the rest of the interior; factors that Fichet Sistemas y Servicios has a great deal of experience in through their Museums protection knowledge. “This is a large and strategically very important order for us,” says José Ortuño, MD for Fichet Sistemas y Servicios. “This is the first time we will be installing such a comprehensive electronic fire detection system that also incorporates an emergency evacuation alarm.
