Gunnebo security group Gunnebo has, through its Gunnebo Nordic subsidiary, renewed its general agreement with Statoil in Sweden, Norway and Denmark for the delivery, installation and service of its entirely closed and integrated SafePay cash handling system.

The agreement provides for the delivery and installation of all components in the SafePay system for Statoil’s Nordic units, including note and coin recyclers, intelligent deposit unit with note-colouring units, SDU, the cash transfer unit CTU, the newly developed SCL emptying unit and a specially designed cash pouch for the SCL unit, along with an accompanying service agreement.

The markets for closed cash handling systems differ slightly in each of the Nordic countries. In Denmark, for example, SafePay is the only system on the market that provides integrated, totally closed cash handling.

“Our aim is to eliminate robberies at our petrol stations in Denmark,” says Søren Bjelka, HMS director for Energy & Retail, Statoil Denmark.

“We are going to great lengths to train our personnel, but to achieve our targets we will have to remove all cash from the store environment. So, we have decided to equip all our petrol stations in Denmark with cash handling systems. As the amount of cash a thief can steal in a robbery is very limited, this is an investment we are making to improve security for our personnel, not least those working at petrol stations in the evening and at night”.

“Statoil is an important partner in our development process for the entire SafePay range of cash handling systems,” says Sven Boëthius, Country Manager at Gunnebo Nordic.

The renewal of the general agreement is strategically important as it indicates that Statoil is adopting a long-term approach to the trend toward a safer store environment; it also includes an upgraded service agreement. Denmark is particularly important to us since we are at present the only established supplier of integrated, closed cash handling systems on the market.
