Gunnebo’s $21 million new Hamilton facility in the US up and running
Thanks to a loyal and continuously growing group of customers, Gunnebo has been able to invest $21 million in a new-state-of the-art Hamilton facility in Milford, Ohio, near Cincinnati. The plant is now up and running at full speed 16 months after the strategic decision taken in late 2020. The official ribbon cutting ceremony took place on April 27th, in presence of local and regional politicians and industry leaders.
The significant investment involves the replacement of three separate locations with one major high-tech facility for Gunnebo’s protection and safe storage business in the US. The new facility enables several strategic business gains, such as increased efficiency, reduced environmental impact and strengthened customer experience.
“With our new facility, we sharpen our competitiveness and strengthen our position throughout Americas. The investment gives us better conditions to achieve our goals of delivering innovative products to our customers in this large and important market”, says Stefan Syrén, President and CEO, Gunnebo.
The 180 000 square feet facility, as large as three American football fields, brings together over 200 employees to capture current and future business growth. The investment includes digital advancements, cutting-edge technology and a new powder coat paint line and cement plant. These upgrades will enable significant improvements in production quality as well as speed and efficiency.
Apart from a leaner production process, other benefits include improved energy efficiency and less impact on the environment with an estimated emission reduction of 20%. The building uses the latest insulation technology with high efficiency LED lighting, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, as well as a high-end filtration system to reduce airborne pathogens and to improve working environment.
“This is an important milestone for us that will create great synergies by having all of us united in one place. Our new facility will also enable increased efficiency and strengthened innovation power and sustainability focus. With professionals working side by side throughout the value chain, our new Hamilton facility is a place where we can grow and develop the Hamilton business and enhance the value we provide to our customers”, says John Stroia.
The new facility will act as an important innovation hub for Gunnebo, for the production and product development of safes, vaults and drive up systems for the protection of valuables for a variety of industries, such as banking, government and retail.
