PasSec awarded MSEK 7 contract by Orly and Charles de Gaulle Airports in Paris Gunnebo Entrance Control has developed the PasSec passage control system for one-way control of passengers travelling between Schengen countries. PasSec systems have already been sold to Arlanda and Landvetter airports in Sweden for some MSEK 3. Now Gunnebo Entrance Control's French unit has been award a contract worth EUR 794,000 (just over MSEK 7) for 60 PasSec systems for the Orly and Roissy Charles de Gaulle airports in Paris - to be delivered during this year. PasSec's one-way passage control system has replaced passport control booths as the physical interface between transit halls and arrivals halls. The European market for this type of passage control system designed especially for airports is worth around MSEK 150. The contract with Aéroports de Paris, the French airport management company, for at least 60 PasSec one-way passage control systems will initially require Gunnebo Entrance Control to develop two modified models of its existing PasSec system at Gunnebo Italdis, Gunnebo's unit in Italy. The contract can be extended for a further year, in which case it will include a total of 150 one-way passage control systems of the modified type. Each unit consists of two active components, a motor-driven, full- height, double door, and two waist-height gates that are controlled by an optical detection system that provides a reliable means of preventing passengers from exiting the gates in the wrong direction. PasSec offers many advantages: it is unusually compact, it can be assembled quickly, and operates with a high passage frequency of over 50 passengers a minute. Other applications for this type of entrance control system include sports arenas, experience centres and public transport facilities.
