Gusto TV announces new season of iconic series “The Great Canadian Food Show”
New season to reflect increasing sophistication of Canadian cuisine
OTTAWA, ON February 3, 2015 – Canada’s newest food and lifestyle channel Gusto TV is proud to announce it has completed development and is about to begin production for a sixth season of “The Great Canadian Food Show” along with a new updated cookbook.
The hit show takes viewers on a gastronomic adventure from one end of Canada to the other while exploring and celebrating regional and ethnic influences on Canadian cuisine.
“The Great Canadian Food Show is an iconic series,” says Gusto TV CEO Chris Knight.
“It was the first show that really championed our country’s evolving cuisine and emphasized local, fresh ingredients. We can’t wait to start on the next chapter, which will reflect the dynamic growth and increasing sophistication of Canadian cooking.”
The new season will also trigger an updated version of the companion cookbook in both print and digital format. The original accompanying cookbook of 200 mouth-watering recipes was a best seller, nominated for the James Beard Foundation Award for Excellence in Food Journalism and a Cuisine Canada Book Award.
“The Great Canadian Food Show” has been sold all over the world. The series originally aired on CBC and then Food Network Canada over five seasons (65 episodes and a one-hour special).
“The Great Canadian Food Show” currently airs on Gusto TV weekdays at 7AM ET/4AM PT and weekends at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT.
A national casting call for the sixth season begins immediately.
