From bed to strength training: Ydalir Hotel and Gympak redefine wellness in hotel rooms
Ydalir Hotel, centrally located on Ullandhaug in Stavanger, continues to set new standards for hotel experiences with a focus on health and wellness. In collaboration with Gympak and Mase Home, Ydalir Hotel introduces a brand-new in-room fitness experience where the bed transforms into a workout area. This unique solution blends modern design with practical exercise possibilities for a flexible, health-centered stay.
Ydalir Hotel is a boutique property with 59 elegant rooms, including 12 fully equipped apartments. The hotel’s business model is unique—since its opening in 2018, all profits have been donated to the University of Stavanger to support research and education. This makes Ydalir Gympak's first non-profit partner, a pioneering figure in integrating wellness into the hotel experience.
The pilot project tests innovative technology from Mase Home, featuring a bed that lifts to free up floor space. Portable gym equipment allows guests to switch seamlessly between work and physical activity without compromising comfort. The rooms are equipped with Gympak's portable training tools, making it simple for guests to engage in strength and mobility exercises without leaving their room.
"This is an important step toward our goal of making wellness a natural part of every hotel room," says Martin Sagen, General Manager at Ydalir Hotel. "Our partnership with Gympak allows us to combine innovation and comfort with a focus on health and well-being."
For Gympak, the partnership with Ydalir marks a significant step in establishing wellness as a standard in the hospitality industry.
"It’s fantastic to work with a visionary partner like Ydalir," says Jone Sølvik, CEO of Gympak. "The hotel’s non-profit model makes this collaboration even more unique. We see great potential in expanding the concept so that our solutions become the standard in all rooms in the future."
This initiative reflects a growing trend in the hotel industry, where guests’ health and flexibility are central. By offering integrated fitness options, Ydalir Hotel demonstrates how wellness can become an inspiring and natural element of the modern hotel experience.
