Hotel Onyxen makes guests take notice: Guest well-being has never been more important
The boutique hotel in Gothenburg enhances the guest experience with a stronger focus on health and service. Guests now have the opportunity to borrow workout clothes during their stay, whether they choose to exercise in their rooms, go for a run, train outdoors, or use the award-winning Spa & Lifestyle Club, Hagabadet, where entry is included in their accommodation.
Hotel Onyxen boasts a rich history and offers 34 stylishly decorated rooms, combining modern comfort with timeless charm. Located in the heart of Gothenburg, the hotel allows guests to enjoy the city’s vibrancy while also relaxing in a calm and inviting environment. With its homely atmosphere and personalized service, the hotel has long been a popular choice for visitors looking to blend the city's energy with a relaxing hotel experience.
Starting in November, the hotel will offer guests the option to borrow workout clothes during their stay. This provides flexibility and convenience for those who wish to travel light while maintaining their workout routine during their trip, or for those who may have forgotten to pack their own.
Helene Johansson, Wow Experience Manager and owner of Hotel Onyxen, expresses her enthusiasm for this new development: “We have always aimed to exceed our guests' expectations, and this expanded service is a natural step to strengthen our position as a premier boutique hotel in Gothenburg. With this solution, I am confident that our guests will have a 'wow' experience. By offering new services, we can deepen our offering and provide our guests with added value that truly makes a difference during their stay. It’s all about creating a sense of care, where every detail is thoughtfully considered.”
Iconic Figures in Gothenburg’s hotel and spa industry
Pelle and Helene Johansson have established themselves as iconic figures in the spa industry through their successful work with the wellness group Hagabadet. Following the summer, they have taken further steps into the hotel business, transitioning from minority owners to sole proprietors of Hotel Onyxen and the upcoming hotel in the old Polish House from 1911 on Tredjelånggatan, which is expected to open in 2026. With deep roots in the city and a long history of innovation and entrepreneurship, they are building businesses that are now synonymous with genuine guest experiences, health, and relaxation. "In a time of many new constructions, we believe it is important and especially exciting to enhance what already exists and highlight what has a soul," says Helene. By developing operations in older properties into unique experiences, Hagabadet has transformed from a dated facility with significant losses into a well-visited wellness group with three award-winning lifestyle clubs, making the couple pioneers in the industry. Hotel Onyxen and the upcoming hotel in the former Polish House mark the beginning of an exciting boutique and lifestyle concept that leverages the group's experience, strong brand in health and wellness, and trends in longevity.
Their journey began in 1996 when Helene saw the potential in Hagabadet, while Pelle joined a few years later, taking over as CEO with the mission of making the business profitable. After purchasing the company in 2013, they have continued to expand and develop their concepts with a focus on health, well-being, and unique guest experiences. Both Hotel Onyxen and Hagabadet stand today as examples of the couple's visionary leadership and their ability to adapt to new trends in both accommodation and wellness.
Jone Sølvik, CEO of Gympak, comments on the collaboration: "We are incredibly pleased and proud to partner with Hotel Onyxen to offer their guests a unique wellness experience. We firmly believe that physical well-being and mental health go hand in hand, and our partnership allows guests to stay active and healthy even during their hotel stay."
Hotel Onyxen is committed to providing exceptional service experiences that guests will never forget, and through its collaboration with Gympak, it sets a standard for the hotel and the well-being of its guests. With a focus on both physical and mental health, the goal is for every guest to leave the hotel feeling rejuvenated and with unforgettable memories.
Helene Johansson concludes: "I was also pleasantly surprised by how cost-effective Gympak's services are."
