Gyros AB announced today the appointment of Nils Kristensen as Vice President, Operations, based at their company headquarters in Uppsala Science Park, Sweden. Mr. Kristensen has held a number of senior management positions in production and development at Ericsson Microelectronics and Ericsson Radio Systems both in the US and Sweden. "Our technology platform has the potential to miniaturize and integrate many different laboratory processes, so it is essential that we build-up a strong CD production department to cater for our 'off-the shelf' CD microlaboratories as well as our custom-designed solutions", said Dr. Maris Hartmanis, President and CEO of Gyros AB, "With over ten years of experience in advanced industrial production and product development, Mr. Kristensen brings with him the expertise we need to ensure that our products reach the standards of reliability and quality required by industrial clients." "I am very excited at the prospect of working in a rapidly expanding company with such a unique new technology" said Kristensen, "Transferring CD microlaboratories from development through to routine production and quality assurance will be a great challenge." The Gyros technology platform has drawn considerable interest from pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies. Dr. Hartmanis continued, "The new CD production unit is an essential step in our development plans and gives us total control of the core element in our technology platform". The Company anticipates its first product launch in the first half of 2002 and is already developing collaborations for custom-designed solutions based on its unique platform. About Gyros AB Gyros AB offers pharmaceutical, biotechnology and diagnostic companies access to a unique, proprietary technology platform in which routine or non-routine laboratory processes can be miniaturized and integrated into client-specific CDs.
