Breakthrough for newly developed environmental technology - Scania selects Alfdex for crankcase gas cleaning Haldex has received a letter of intent from Scania regarding serial delivery of the Alfdex system. The system has been developed within the framework of cooperation between Alfa Laval and Haldex that takes place in the jointly owned company Alfdex AB. The deliveries are valid for a first 4-year period, 2005-2008, starting early next year. On several markets in the Western world and Asia, the environmental restrictions are now being more severe as regards various emissions from engines. One such restriction is the sharp reduction of oil droplets and soot particles in the crank case ventilation gases that are emitted from diesel engines. The Alfdex system, which is based on Alfa Laval's leading position within centrifugal separation, offers the market a highly efficient solution to the problem in question. The interest in the Alfdex system is great an mot of the diesel engine manufacturers in Europe and the U.S. have successfully tested, or are testing, the system. The Alfdex system is intended for 5-16 liter diesel engines, which roughly corresponds to diesel engines for medium heavy and heavy trucks, as well as for buses, construction equipment and marine and industrial applications. The global market potential for the Alfdex system is estimated to 1 billion SEK. Haldex (www.haldex.com), headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, is a provider of proprietary and innovative solutions to the global vehicle industry, with focus on products in vehicles that enhance safety, environment and vehicle dynamics. Haldex is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and has annual sales over 6 billion SEK with 4,000 employees.
