First prototype order for Haldex AWD system in Japan Haldex has received the first order for prototype installation of the Haldex AWD system in Japan. The prototype installation is scheduled for end of year 2000 and if the following tests are positive, serial production could start in year 2003. The Japanese AWD market is the second in the world after the American and corresponds to approximately 1.5 - 2 million vehicles. This order together with the previously announced prototype order in USA confirms the global market potential also for the Haldex AWD system. Haldex is hereby operating in all three major automotive regions in the world: Europe, USA and Japan. This prototype order includes the development of a new way of integrating the Haldex AWD system in the drive-line of the vehicle, which will reduce the weight and dimensions of the integrated Haldex unit.
