Greater security for Handelsbanken’s mortgage loan customers

This autumn, Handelsbanken will be launching a new form of mortgage protection, incorporating both life insurance and income insurance. A form of protection that is in high demand among our customers. The income insurance is being offered in partnership with BNP Paribas Cardif, the world’s largest loan protection provider.

“We have recognised an increased need for better mortgage protection and, above all, income insurance, with one factor behind this being the pandemic. As a bank, a significant responsibility weighs on our shoulders to ensure that our customers are in a secure position when they take a mortgage loan from us. This is why it feels especially meaningful that we will soon be launching a new mortgage protection that provides security in the event of unemployment, illness or death,” says David Haqvinsson, CEO of Stadshypotek*.

Being able to stay in your home should the worst happen
Handelsbanken’s new mortgage protection consists of both life insurance and income insurance. Mortgage protection income insurance covers mortgage payments, providing a safety net if life were to suddenly change due to, for example, an accident, illness or involuntary unemployment. Mortgage protection life insurance may be the difference that allows survivors to stay in their home in the event of the policyholder’s death. Handelsbanken Liv is the insurer for the life insurance, while BNP Paribas Cardif is the insurer for the income insurance.

“This gives our mortgage customers financial security at a time when they have other important things on their mind. They gain time to adapt to their new circumstances, to focus on their health or to find a new job without the additional stress of worrying about their bank balance,” says David Haqvinsson.
