Handelsbanken is now creating a new business unit - Handelsbanken International.
With over 600 branches in 20 countries, Handelsbanken is the most international bank in the Nordic region.
Björn Börjesson, executive vice president of Handelsbanken, states, "We were the first Nordic bank to open branch offices in Russia, China and now most recently in India." He will be head of the new business unit.

Handelsbanken's domestic markets are the Nordic countries and Great Britain. The majority of the bank's branch offices are located here, divided into 11 regional banks.
Björn Börjesson notes, "Moreover, Handelsbanken has branches in an additional 15 countries throughout the world. These operations have now become so extensive that we have decided to create a special business unit to meet the increased demand from our customers."
Handelsbanken currently has branch offices in the following countries: Estonia, France, Hongkong SAR, India, China, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Singapore, Spain, Germany, the US, and Austria.
He adds, "We plan to open new branches in several of these countries. I believe we can be relatively more offensive over the next few years.
We are doing this to better meet the ever-increasing inflow of new customers. In this way, Handelsbanken is primarily following its domestic market customers out into the world.
We offer a wide range of products extending from advisory services, cash management and credits to export and project financing. Our broad international presence enables us to attract not only Nordic and British companies, but also successful companies in all the countries where we have operations."
