Handelsbanken's Hållbar Energi fund has today been named the best fund, together with four other funds, in the 'Global Equity Funds' category at the CDP Europe Awards organised by EIB, the European Investment Bank.
“This distinction affirms our conviction that the winners of the future will be those companies that genuinely view sustainability as an integral, natural part of their business, and recognise that financial returns and environmental concerns can go hand in hand,” says Magdalena Alveskog, Chief Executive Officer, Handelsbanken Fonder.

The CDP Europe Awards are arranged by EIB and broadcast on the global TV news channel, Euronews. Speakers at the event include the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, the EU's Commissioner for Finance, Mairead McGuinness, and Magdalena Wahlqvist Alveskog, Chief Executive Officer, Handelsbanken Fonder.
In connection with the conference, Hållbar Energi will be awarded a Climetrics rating of 5 leaves out of 5. The fund is one of 20 equity funds around the world to be recognised for its sustainability work.

Patric Lindqvist, Asset Manager of the Hållbar Energi fund:

“We are obviously extremely happy that Hållbar Energi has been designated that best global equity fund in this area. The mutual fund industry plays an important role in supporting companies to become more sustainable, and the Hållbar Energi fund is specifically focused on solutions to environmental challenges."

As well as climate change, the conference will also present a circular model for the climate and success factors that could lead to sustainability and returns going hand in hand. Also on the agenda will be an emphasis on sector-wide initiatives such as the Net Zero Asset Manager alliance, which Handelsbanken Fonder was one of the first to sign up to.

Magdalena Wahlqvist Alveskog, Chief Executive Officer, Handelsbanken Fonder:

“For us, investments in companies focused on future-oriented solutions and transitional actions, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, are important across the entirety of the fund management operations. This distinction affirms our conviction that the winners of the future will be those companies that genuinely view sustainability as an integral, natural part of their business, and recognise that financial returns and environmental concerns can go hand in hand.”
