Handelsbanken's CFO, Lennart Francke, will be leaving his position after the Bank's interim report on 24 October.

"He will gradually wind down his assignments and hand them over during the fourth quarter. Lennart Francke has spent the whole of his adult life with the Bank, the last ten years as Executive Vice President, and I want to utilise his extremely deep and broad skills for more long-term and general tasks," says Handelsbanken's CEO, Pär Boman.

Lennart Francke, who has four years left until his pension age, will report directly to Pär Boman and will work on issues relating to the new European Basel II regulations. He will closely monitor their implementation on various markets. One crucial issue is to study the impact of the new regulations on the relative competitive situation among the various financial players, both within and between various countries.

"We plan to be well prepared to benefit from the opportunities offered by Basel II. This is why Lennart Francke will be starting this task immediately but will remain as CFO during a handover period."

No successor has been appointed but the process of finding one has started.
