Handelsbanken's Finance Company, Handelsbanken Finans, opens branch in Great Britain
Handelsbanken is one of the leading banks in the Nordic region offering a complete range of financial services, traditional corporate business, investment banking and trading and private banking including life insurance. Handelsbanken now has ten branches in Great Britain and others are being planned. The branch office network is built up in exactly the same way and on the same principles as in the Nordic region. The Bank offers retail services to local customers, both corporate and private. Handelsbanken also offers Internet and telephone banking services as well as card operations.
Handelsbanken Finans is a wholly owned subsidiary of Handelsbanken and one of the leading finance companies in the Nordic region. It offers a comprehensive range of local finance company services at Handelsbanken's 544 branch offices in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
-As from Monday 6th October, the 10 Handelsbanken branches throughout Britain will be able to offer its clients hire purchase and leasing products through Handelsbanken Finans as an integral part of its corporate services. Great Britain will be the fifth country in which Handelsbanken Finans will operate, following the geographical expansion of the Bank's operations. Handelsbanken Finans is today the main finance company in Sweden. The operations in the Nordic countries outside Sweden has been formed during the past 8 years with rapid growth and a profitability exceeding 20% RoE. The build up has comprised both organic growth and acquisitions.
-In Great Britain we now start with our own people but are also considering the possibility of acquisitions, says Bengt KG Gustafsson, Head of the Handelsbanken Finans Great Britain branch. Initially we are offering leasing and hire purchase services. The next step will probably be invoice discounting and factoring services and eventually vendor programmes and consumer lending through retail programmes, not excluding the possibilities of bespoke credit cards.
