Handelsbanken to close its branch in Poland
Handelsbanken is discontinuing its business operations in Poland and is set to close its Warsaw branch. The primary purpose of the operations was to assist the Bank’s home market customers with their business in Poland.
Despite the implementation of efficiency-enhancing measures, the operations have not shown satisfactory profits. Profitability is low, while costs are too high. This, combined with changes in many customers’ behaviour and an increase in the investments needed, has resulted in the Bank deciding to discontinue its operations in Poland during 2020.
