The connected lifestyle services company has been honoured with more than 200 awards over past four years

STAMFORD, CT HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated (NYSE: HAR), the premier connected technologies company for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets today announced it has won a total of 23 product innovation and design awards at the 2016 Red Dot Design Awards. HARMAN’s brands JBL, AKG and Harman Kardon all picked up accolades this year, taking HARMAN’s award recognition over the past four years globally to 200 wins, more than double its closest competitor in this period.

These awards across brands that also include Infinity, Revel and Mark Levinson are “a deserved achievement for the painstaking effort we take in getting the design right,” said Damian Mackiewicz, vice president, design for HARMAN’s Lifestyle Audio Division. “Our brands span every facet of the headphone and speaker markets, but one constant is excellence in design which delivers top-level performance, complemented by perfect styling – reinforcing HARMAN as a champion in the global consumer electronics industry.”

Dating back to 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is given to products that demonstrate innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility. With their specialist knowledge, some 40 recognised experts from around the world guarantee the high quality standards and thus the value of the Red Dot seal.

Amongst 17,000 entries globally, HARMAN collected the sought-after Red Dot across 23 of its products including:

  • 18 JBL products, including JBL Everest Elite 700, JBL Trip and JBL Reflect Response
  • Three Harman Kardon products including its Wireless HD Audio System, the Harman Kardon Omni+
  • Two AKG products including the stylish AKG Y30 headphones

The success seen at Red Dot is a continuation of the achievements made by HARMAN across the likes of the CES Innovation Awards and iF Design Awards. From these and other global events, HARMAN has now collected more than 200 awards over the past four years.

The CES Innovation program honours outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products across categories. HARMAN received the award for 13 products across its product portfolio; headphones, smart audio, connected home and aftermarket car audio categories, including the JBL Xtreme, JBL Boost TV and Revel Concerta2 Series.

The iF Design Award has long become a symbol for excellent form, for aesthetic quality and for user-focused, ergonomic and efficient design in all disciplines, by companies around the world. HARMAN collected 10 awards at the February ceremony, with JBL and AKG again being honoured for products including the JBL Reflect Aware and AKG N90Q respectively.

“The Red Dot Awards are another shining example of how far our design story has come and how it continues to evolve,” says Mackiewicz. “Our R&D team are second to none and I have no doubt that we will continue to deliver industry-leading design to businesses and consumers globally.”
