Slogan for new Harper eco-vehicle

‘A cleaner solution without the pollution’ has been chosen as the winning slogan for a new eco-vehicle to be used at Harper Adams University College.

The name was chosen following a staff competition to come up with a ‘green’ slogan suitable for the electric van, which will be used by Domestic Services to collect recycling and do other jobs around campus.

Margaret Sayce, who works in Office Services, and lecturer Graham Scott, beat off the competition by combining their creative efforts. They were rewarded with an energy monitor worth £40 and their winning slogan has now been added to the van.

Karen Hughes, Environment and Waste Management Officer, devised the competition. She said: “We use electric vehicles as an eco-friendly way to travel around campus.

“By asking the staff to come up with a slogan, it is another way to get them interested and involved in sustainability.

“We’ve also started to collect food waste from them by issuing kitchen caddies and bio-degradable bags. This then all goes into the University College Anaerobic Digester which converts food and farm waste into energy.”
