Harper Adams University College is delighted to have received an award of £1,000 from a national retailer.

The gift was received as part of the 2011 Marks & Spencer Plan A Farming Awards, and was presented to Harper Adams Principal Dr David Llewellyn at the Royal Welsh Show.

Dr Llewellyn said: “We are extremely grateful to Marks & Spencer for their support of our students and commitment to the farming community. In keeping with the award being made at the Royal Welsh Show, we plan to use the funds to support Welsh students.”

M&S launched its eco-plan, Plan A, in January 2007 and committed to change 100 things over five years. A further 80 commitments have since been added.

Mike Barry, Head of Sustainable Business at M&S, said: “Sustainable farming is core to a number of existing and new Plan A commitments and we are committed to working closely with our producers to help ensure we all achieve our sustainability goals.”
