County Cork man wins support for MSc study

Harper Adams is proud to introduce its newest Masstock scholar, Bryan Kearney

Bryan, 22, from Ladysbridge, County Cork, Ireland, has just commenced his postgraduate degree in Crop Protection and Agronomy at Harper Adams University College.

Masstock has chosen to support Bryan in his studies through a scholarship worth £4,500, which covers full fees and also offers practical work experience and the possibility of a structured career path with the company.

The scholar’s work experience provides an insight into and experience of all aspects of modern arable supply business - agronomy, product management, environmental stewardship, advanced arable research and innovative information transfer via Masstock’s ‘SMART Farm’ network.

On receiving the scholarship award, Bryan said: “I am grateful to have received this award enabling me to further my studies in this specialised area of crop protection, without the financial burden of fees.
“I am very lucky to have been presented with this rare opportunity, wherby the contribution from both Masstock and Harper Adams throughout the year will equip me with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a solid contribution to the sector in the future, while opening up numerous opportunities in my career path.

Should Bryan, who previously studied a BSc in Land Management in Agriculture at Waterford Institute of Technology, wish to pursue a career with Masstock, he could choose from opportunities in agronomy, arable research, arable product management or farm business consultancy.

Masstock Business Manager, Nigel Francis, said: “Bryan has demonstrated great enthusiasm for the arable side of agriculture. Although there is no expectation he will join us once he graduates, Masstock is always looking out for young people who are hungry for success and wish to forge careers in agriculture.

“As a member of Origin Enterprises Plc, Masstock is committed to primary food production in the UK and through a number of international projects. If you believe that the hugely important business of crop production and agronomy is a role you'd be interested in, please consider the Masstock Scholarship - it could lead to an enjoyable, rewarding and life-long career.”
This competitive scholarship is available to UK residents considering the postgraduate Crop Protection and Agronomy course at the University College in Shropshire.
