Santa to visit Harper Adams
Festive Farmers' Market welcomes 70 stallholders and Santa Claus
SANTA Claus is coming to Harper Adams University College this Sunday for the Festive Farmers’ Market.
Children are invited to take a ride on the tractor trailer around campus before stopping off to meet the man himself at his grotto.
More than 70 stallholders will be on site, local singers will be providing musical cheer, while mulled wine and mince pies will provide refreshment.
The market runs from 10am-2pm and will be located in a spacious marquee outside the main building at Harper Adams in Edgmond, near Newport, and parking is free.
Farmers Market Coordinator, Joanna Gleeson, said: “This is the biggest Farmers’ Market we’ve ever had at Harper Adams.
“The students are really involved in the day, they are helping Santa to run the grotto and will be offering gingerbread decorating and selling cakes.
“There’s a real emphasis on local producers and we’ve restricted it food and crafts that are homemade and not mass produced.
“We even have two stallholders selling Christmas decorations so it should prove to bring some real Christmas cheer to the campus and offer a truly fantastic shopping experience.”
Stallholders will be donating items to a raffle on the day, with all proceeds being donated to the Women’s Land Army Tribute.
The results of the Christmas card design competition for local school children will be announced with winners having their designs produced.
Musical entertainment is being provided by Newport Brass Band and blues duo Derek Holt and Mick Giliker.
Joanna added: “As well as buying for Christmas, there are plenty of stallholders selling hot food to buy on the day.
“We even have Chestnut Meats who sell goat products, as well as hot turkey baps, curry and other foods.”
