Three veterinary nursing students planning charity stunt

THREE veterinary nursing students are preparing to take to the skies to raise vital funds for a cancer charity.

Leah Harrop, from Staffordshire, and Emma Page and Caroline Bromley, both from Shropshire, hope to raise at least £400 each for Breakthrough Breast Cancer by taking part in a skydive.

The three students are working at E.C Straiton Veterinary Hospital in Penkridge, with Emma and Caroline, 24, studying at Harper Adams University College in Shropshire and Leah, 21, at Bottle Green Training in Derbyshire.

They are aiming to collect £1,500 and are starting their fundraising early.

20-year-old Emma, said: “We decided to do the skydive as a challenge, as it is something that is on all of our life 'to do' lists.

“We feel that it will be an amazing experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives, and doing it for such a good cause makes it even more worthwhile.

“At first we had feelings of excitement but as soon as we booked the jump our feelings turned to apprehension.

“We are now very nervous and hope we can bring ourselves to dive into the abyss when the time comes!

“We have taken part in a two-mile sponsored walk in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People but other than that, this is our first major fundraiser.”

The skydive is due to take place at Whitchurch Airfield on April 21. To donate, visit http://www.justgiving.com/Caroline-Bromley0
