ATLANTA,  FEB. 13, 2012— Travelers now have another option when flying out of Atlanta, with the addition of Southwest Airlines to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

“We are pleased to welcome Southwest Airlines as it begins service at Hartsfield-Jackson,” said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. “Competition is beneficial for everyone, and we are confident our customers will embrace the additional choices that Southwest Airlines will offer.”

Southwest Airlines recently acquired AirTran Holdings Inc., the former parent company of AirTran Airways, an existing carrier at Hartsfield-Jackson. AirTran and Southwest both will operate at the Airport until Southwest integrates AirTran into its brand.

“Our service from Atlanta brings greatly reduced fares with new flexibility and value for both leisure and business customers,” said Gary Kelly, Southwest’s chairman, president and CEO.

Southwest also will launch air cargo service and has added a 26,000-square-foot cargo facility in the Airport’s north cargo complex.

The Southwest Airlines ticket counters are in Terminal North, and flights will operate on Concourse C.
