Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire – Tuesday 18 August, 2009; Coopers Square shopping centre has confirmed that essential works being carried out to its rooftop car park are ahead of schedule and the newly refurbished facility looks set to reopen towards the end of next week.

The car park, which offers 200 spaces, was closed to completely renew the surface which had degraded in the 20 years since it opened. The improved facility now offers clearer and safer directional routes, including a new one-way system and dedicated pedestrian walkways. Looking pristine and boasting better signage, the car park will reopen shortly thanks to the extensive works being completed in record time, within seven weeks of its closure. Dave Chadfield, Coopers Square Centre Manager, commented: “We are delighted that the refurbishment has gone so well and we look forward to reopening the rooftop car park well ahead of schedule for the convenience of our shoppers. With the works complete, the car park will offer a greatly improved facility and, with the charges remaining unchanged, cost effective town centre parking which, I hope, our visitors will make great use of.” An all day ticket at the Coopers Square rooftop car park costs £5 while parking up to two hours costs £1 and between two and four hours £2.50. All day parking on Sundays is available at £1.50. -Ends- Notes to Editors In 1999, the Coopers Square shopping centre was acquired by Grosvenor – the leading international property development, investment and management group – for its Grosvenor Shopping Centre Fund.
