Media Release: Coopers Square Welcomes Superstar Cars For Rooftop Showcase

Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire – Friday May 7, 2010; Coopers Square is preparing to give TV fans and car enthusiasts of all ages a special treat, on Sunday May 16, when the Burton upon Trent shopping centre will welcome a mouth-watering gathering of superstar, classic and modern cars to its rooftop car park.

Headlining the showcase will be three iconic cars representing some of the most famous and popular TV series in the world. The General Lee 1969 Dodge Charger replica is sure to delight Dukes of Hazzard fans while the Ghostbusters Ecto 1 1959 Cadillac Ambulance replica, quite possibly the rarest movie car in existence, will be also be on show. Completing the display will be a Knight Rider Trans AM original replica, better known as KITT from the hit 1980s TV show. Complete with fully loaded front scanner light and custom nose, Gullwing steering wheel, interior dashboard with two TV screens and onboard camera, it can even talk – with over 30 different phrases. For younger car and TV fans, Roary the Racing Car® and Big Chris will be the star attraction of the day. The massively popular children’s TV characters will be making the special trip from Silver Hatch to Burton to appear throughout the day in the Main Square. The first feature event to be staged in the recently refurbished Coopers Square rooftop car park, easily accessed via the lift and stairs by BHS or via the stairway off New Street, will also host a special display from the Claymills Classic Car Club with a variety of cars presented by their owners. Burton’s TL Darby Volkswagen will also support the event with a collection of cars available from the New Street dealership, including the latest Polo and Golf models. I must confess that the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee ranks among my favourite star cars of the screen and it’s not often you get the chance to get up close to such an amazing piece of TV history. “Coopers Square prides itself on delivering a variety of free family events for our wide-range of visitors and I’m sure, with such an amazing array of iconic, classic and modern cars on display, this unique showcase will not only appeal to our male shoppers but car and TV fans young and old.” Although closed to stage the special event on May 16, the fully refurbished Coopers Square rooftop car park offers the perfect town centre parking solution for shoppers.
