Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire – Tuesday, June 22, 2010; Coopers Square shoppers voted with their feet in response to the centre’s unique styling event, Fashion on the Move. The one-day summer fashion and beauty extravaganza attracted 17% more visitors on Saturday, June 19, like-on-like on a comparative weekly and yearly basis, ensuring stores enjoyed thriving trade.

The shopping centre’s latest successful event follows the news earlier this month naming Burton town centre as one of the top retail destinations in the West Midlands, according to the study conducted by retail data specialists CACI. Coopers Square’s leading high street and independent traders joined forces for Fashion on the Move 2010, to present the season’s sensational new collections for all the family complete with top tips from a professional stylist. Perfectly timed ahead of Father’s Day the event also put special focus on men’s fashions. A far cry from a standard fashion show, Fashion on the Move models performed regularly throughout the malls giving shoppers the chance to see how to wear this summer’s latest look before hitting the stores. Experts were also on hand with free beauty advice and trials courtesy of the Body Shop, Boots and the Fragrance Shop, creating a fantastic buzz about the centre. The UK’s leading suit specialists, Moss were just one of 20 supporting stores quick to endorse the event. Ian Mortlock, Moss store Manager, commented; “Coopers Square’s Fashion on the Move brought a lot of people into the centre and it was great to see the Main Square packed for the Moss performance, alongside River Island and Monsoon. “As soon as the show finished we saw immediate interest with people coming into the shop to find what they had seen on show. It certainly made for a busy Saturday and we’re delighted the event’s success was reflected with a sales increase like-on-like to comparative Saturday trading.” Coopers Square Centre Manager, Dave Chadfield, said: “Fashion on the Move 2010 was without doubt our best fashion styling event yet. The feedback from our shoppers has been fantastic and their views are echoed by the supporting stores who have reported really encouraging sales as a direct result. “We’re always looking for new ideas and ways to attract people to the shopping centre and there’s no greater reward than seeing so many happy shoppers. Saturday’s performances seemed to stop people in their tracks at the sight of the models moving and dancing throughout the centre and I don’t think there was a better way to give our visitors the best possible insight into what to wear this summer.” -Ends- Notes to Editors In 1999, the Coopers Square shopping centre was acquired by Grosvenor – the leading international property development, investment and management group – for its Grosvenor Shopping Centre Fund.
