Oxford, UK – Friday 31 May 2013; FW Motorsport will resume its maiden Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup campaign at Oulton Park, on 8-9 June, with team owner/driver Fergus Walkinshaw aiming for a repeat of his Thruxton pole-setting pace to aid his climb up the title table in front of the team’s adopted home crowd.

Walkinshaw heads to the Cheshire track after a dominant qualifying performance which saw the 22 year-old record FW Motorsport’s first Ginetta GT Supercup pole position by an astonishing 1.5 seconds on the team’s Thruxton debut in early May.

With another three solid points-scoring finishes secured, including a top seven result, Walkinshaw leapt from 11th to ninth in the title table as he fights back from his single non-finish of the season at Donington Park.

Building experience with every race, FW Motorsport has continued to make significant development advances during the month-long break in the British Touring Car Championship calendar. This week’s one-day test at Oulton Park saw Walkinshaw prove more than a match for the increasingly wet conditions to nail the G55’s wet set-up, the 3.7-litre Ginetta never missing a beat in over 60 laps of the International and Island circuits.

Apart from a welcome return to racing, the Oulton Park rounds represent the team’s home event for crew members Clive Rowland, from near-by Weaverham, Mark Thompson from Cheadle, and Oscar Miller from neighbouring Derbyshire (Chesterfield). The additional adopted home crowd support, partnered with Walkinshaw’s clear pace and potential and the team’s continued positive progress, will surely see FW Motorsport make a deserved return to the top six.

Walkinshaw commented: “I couldn’t be more pleased with how we ran in testing at Oulton Park this week. The FW Motorsport crew has done a fantastic job in the long break since Thruxton and the car was faultless over 60 laps, which equates to more than a full race weekend.

“As a new team, we obviously started the season from scratch but now we’re building our base data and from that will come consistency. So I’m looking forward to getting back to racing at Oulton Park and delivering some more strong results for our local team fans.”

The official TOCA test on Friday 7 June will precede the race weekend action at Oulton Park, which kicks off with Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup qualifying at 10.30 on Saturday and race one at 15.55. The double-header GT Supercup showdown then continues with round 11 at 13.42 on Sunday, aired live on ITV4.
