Burton upon Trent – Thursday, August 5, 2010; Coopers Square hosted a bumper crowd of visitors on Wednesday, August 4, to welcome Mr Bump to the Burton upon Trent shopping centre for the very first time.

It wasn’t just the children that were pleased to meet the legendary Mr Bump. Special storytelling sessions held in the Main Square throughout the day attracted visitors of all ages who all enjoyed the break from their busy shopping mission. Dave Chadfield, Coopers Square Centre Manager, commented: “It was wonderful to welcome Mr Bump to Coopers Square for the first time. Judging by the crowds gathered in the Main Square his visit was voted an outstanding success by our shoppers. The storytelling sessions certainly captured the children’s imaginations and it was fantastic to see so many parents and grandparents also enjoying Mr Bump’s visit. “Children’s TV character visits always prove popular with our visitors and we certainly hope to welcome back Mr Bump at some point in the future.” Mr Bump, just one of the iconic Mr Men and Little Miss characters that have entertained children for near-on 40 years, bump-started Coopers Square’s programme of free family events and children’s TV character appearances taking place throughout the school holidays. Coopers Square shoppers can now look forward to welcoming Peppa Pig and George back to Burton on Wednesday, August 18, followed by Fifi and Bumble on Bank Holiday Monday, August 30.
