Media Release: Scott-Eklund Racing Secures TiAL Sport Backing For GRC Campaign
Texas Motor Speedway, Dallas - Thursday, June 7, 2012: Scott-Eklund Racing has secured vital support from American giant TiAL® Sport Inc. USA for the remainder of the 2012 Global Rallycross Championship (GRC).
Founded in Michigan in 1994, TiAL Sport is committed to manufacturing industry-leading turbo components to meet the harsh demands on and off the race track, and will back the new team, comprising Team Principal and lead driver Andy Scott and Technical Director Per Eklund, together with new driver signing Samuel Hübinette, for the remaining five GRC rounds.
The two Scott-Eklund Racing 600bhp, two-litre, 16 valve Saab 9-3s of Scott and Hübinette are already equipped with TiAL - Garret ball bearing turbos, so a partnership between GRC debutants Scott-Eklund Racing and TiAL Sport was a logical development.
Winner of the 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award and 2010 Distributor of the Year Award, awarded by Garrett Turbochargers, TiAL Sport boasts many high-performance products among its portfolio including wastegates, blow off valves, turbochargers, turbo components, and intercoolers, as well as being an authorised Garrett Performance distributor.
Announced on the eve of the second round of the Global Rallycross Championship, the inaugural Hoon KaboomTX event at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, the news adds further credence to the thriving privateer team as it goes head-to-head with major motor manufacturer-based teams vying for automatic entry into X Games Los Angeles 2012.
The GRC action is scheduled to start this evening (Thursday 7 June) with official practice at 20.30 (local time), followed by practice and seeding sessions from 10.00 on Friday, June 8. The Hoon KaboomTX race activity kicks off at 15.30 on Saturday, June 9.
Tickets for the June 9 event will include admission to both the Firestone 550 IndyCar Series Race and the Hoon KaboomTX Global Rallycross round priced at $35 plus taxes, or two for $49.
