Poole, Dorset – Friday, August 6, 2010; The Dolphin Shopping Centre will team up with Boots on Saturday, August 14, to offer shoppers and tourists top tips on skin sun care, as part of the shopping centre’s Escape the Midday Sun programme of free family events.

Boots’ popular children’s mascot, Sunshine Sam will be paying an extra special visit to the Dolphin Shopping Centre to help the whole family protect their skin while enjoying the glorious British summertime. A friendly, active bear, who loves to play outdoors and have fun in the sun, but not without his sun hat, t-shirt and sunglasses, Sunshine Sam and Boots Suncare Consultants will be helping shoppers of all ages to remember these five easy steps to stay safe in the sun: • Use a high factor sun cream (SPF30 or more for children) with five star protection to help stop sunburn and deep down damage • Cover up with a t-shirt • Wear a hat that shades your face, neck and ears • Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes • Play in the shade between 11am and 3pm when the sun is strongest While roaming around the Boots store and throughout the Dolphin Shopping Centre for the first time, Sunshine Sam will be giving away free children’s Soltan SPF50 sunscreen sachets, as well as fun frisbees and sun hats. Boots will also be helping adult visitors to try the safest kind of sun tan possible during Sunshine Sam’s special visit. Shoppers will have the exclusive chance to try a healthy looking sun-kissed tan without risking the damaging effects of the sun for free in the Lee Stafford ‘faKe my t@n™’ private trial tent throughout the day. The Dolphin Shopping Centre’s programme of Escape the Midday Sun events offer the perfect way to avoid the effects of the sun when it is at its hottest. Following Sunshine Sam’s special appearance, an action-packed weekend continues at the Dolphin Shopping Centre. The immensely popular free Poole Pottery workshops will take place once again on Sunday, from 10.30am-4.30pm, when Master Potter Alan White will also be in residence to show off his throwing techniques while creating Poole Pottery masterpieces. Stephanie Lacey, Dolphin Shopping Centre Manager, commented: “It’s wonderful that our packed programme of Escape the Midday Sun events has attracted the invaluable support of one of our biggest tenants. “Without doubt, Boots is a leading authority on how the whole family can protect their skin in the sun and I am sure our younger visitors will very much enjoy meeting Sunshine Sam for the first time. The Lee Stafford showcase will also present the ideal opportunity for adults to try a safer way of getting a sun tan in perfect time for their summer holiday.” For the full programme of Dolphin Shopping Centre Escape the Midday Sun free family events simply visit www.dolphinshoppingcentre.co.uk -Ends- Notes to Editors Located in the heart of Poole, the Dolphin Shopping Centre offers an unrivalled choice of over 100 leading stores with excellent access, adjacent travel links and car parking.
