Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire – Tuesday, March 23, 2010: Coopers Square will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Wednesday, March 24. An official cake presentation will be held at 11am in the shopping centre’s Main Square when a special exhibition charting the history of Coopers Square will also be launched. Coopers Square Centre Manager, Dave Chadfield will be joined by local dignitaries, VIPs and local media representatives, to mark this important milestone in the shopping centre’s history on what is a special occasion for the entire town. The Deputy Mayor of Burton, Councillor David Leese, and the Deputy Mayoress, Liz Leese, will be in attendance alongside Burton Town Centre Manager, Paul Howard; Chairman of the Burton Civic Society, Richard Stone, and Neville Brammer – Burton’s Deputy Town Clerk in 1970 – who’s daughter Janet presented HRH Princess Alexandra with her welcome bouquet at the opening of Coopers Square 40 years ago.
