Discussion of Trump Administration Healthcare Policies Slated for Inauguration Week
Amid widespread speculation about the future of the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and other healthcare regulations and programs in the wake of the federal election, the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) has assembled a blue-ribbon panel to discuss the future of health care on Jan. 16, 2017.
The web-based discussion, “Washington Update: What a New Administration Means for Health Plans, Provider Organizations, and Physicians,” will feature former Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt, founder and chairman of Leavitt Partners, a healthcare intelligence business; and Gail R. Wilensky, Ph.D, an economist and senior fellow at Project HOPE, an international health foundation. Dr. Wilensky previously directed the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The panel will be hosted by Joseph J. Fifer, FHFMA, CPA, President and CEO, HFMA.
“Healthcare leaders have been trying to parse the limited and sometimes conflicting information that is currently available about the new administration’s healthcare policy plans,” says HFMA President and CEO Joseph J. Fifer. “The timing of this discussion allows our expert panelists to make the best assessment of the policy changes that are likely to occur under the new administration and Congress.”
The panel discussion will address the implications of “repeal and replace” or “repeal and delay” of the Affordable Care Act; potential changes to Medicare; payment cuts to hospitals, physicians, and post-acute care providers; and prospects for continued adoption of outcome-based payment models.
The 60-minute web-based discussion will take place on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at 3:00 pm ET. It is geared toward the interests of healthcare CEOs, chief financial officers and other finance leaders, physicians and clinical leaders, physician practice executives, and health plan leaders.
