AliKats Mountain Holidays introduces first self-catered chalet to its collection of luxury accommodation
After the success of AliKats’ three delightful, high-end chalets in Morzine; opening this December is AliKats Mountain Holidays’ Chalet 1788, the first self-catered chalet in the AliKats portfolio.
Originally built in 1788 by one of Morzine's founding families, this lovingly converted barn seamlessly combines modern luxuries with classic original features that will give guests a glimpse of Morzine’s past. Featuring the original stone and wooden beams from 1788 plus remnants of the old sausage smokery that was built in 1836, this 5* chalet has character and charm.
Ideal for accommodating families and large groups of friends, Chalet 1788 sleeps 10-12 people in five spacious bedrooms, all with their own private bathrooms. Each bedroom is named after one of Morzine's founding families and lovingly decorated to welcome guests into their alpine retreat.
AliKats endeavours to make guests feel at home in all of its luxurious chalets, and Chalet 1788 is no different. They can relax and indulge after a hard day on the slopes in the brand new wellness area, complete with sauna and outdoor hot tub, and make use of the Nintendo Wii and DVD library. Whether they are cosying up in front of the log fire in the living room or eating together in the stylish dining room, guests will always be surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the magnificent mountains.
While AliKats prides itself on the high quality of food that is served to its guests, which caters to all sorts of dietary requirements, AliKats wanted to offer more flexibility to its guests with the opening of this luxury self-catered chalet. Guests staying in Chalet 1788 will have the freedom to cook for themselves or enjoy an evening dining at one of Morzine’s many mountain restaurants. Plus, guests will also have the option of feasting on AliKats’ home made meals with the additional services on offer:
“We wanted all of our guests to be able to enjoy our famous food and dedicated service, so there are a number of additional extras that they can opt for to make their holiday as effortless as possible” said Al Judge, co-founder of AliKats Mountain Holidays.
The additional services include:
Home made evening meals
Although Chalet 1788 is a fully-equipped self-catered chalet, guests who wish to have a home made evening meal as a comforting welcome back after a day on the slopes, will have their wish granted. A selection of delicious meals from beef bourguignon to lasagne and fish pie to curry can be delivered to the chalet’s fridge while guests are out skiing. Prices start at £8/9€ per head for a full main course (minimum of four people).
Daily morning bakery delivery
AliKats can organise for fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, baguettes and other delicious French delights to be delivered to the chalet in time for breakfast each morning to set skiers up for the day. Bakery delivery service is priced from £17/20€ per week in addition to the price of the food.
Pre-holiday grocery delivery
To avoid that sinking feeling of having an empty kitchen on arriving at the chalet, AliKats can organise a food delivery for guests in advance. For those arriving late on Saturdays, having an already fully-stocked fridge saves guests time trying to rush to the shops before they close on Sundays and allows skiers to head straight out on to the slopes. AliKats will charge guests 10% of their total shopping bill for this service.
Wine order
Guests can benefit from the excellent selection of hand-picked wines on AliKats’ wine list and have it waiting for them in the chalet when they arrive. Prices start from £7/8€ per bottle (typically £15/18€ in a restaurant).
Special occasions
AliKats’ team know the importance of celebrating in style, and what better place to get the party started than in a beautiful chalet in the middle of the mountains? AliKats can provide one of its signature home-baked cakes; a celebration in itself.
Mid-week clean
If guests would like the chalet to be cleaned and to have fresh, clean towels at the middle of the week, the AliKats team can arrange for this to be done on Wednesday while guests are having fun on the mountain.
In addition to these services, AliKats can also arrange transfers, lift-passes, ski hire, beauty treatments and massages.
Chalet 1788 is a 20 minute walk from the ski lifts and central Morzine. Those not wanting to walk that far in ski boots can hop on the free ski bus, which stops right next to the chalet. From here, guests will be able to access the whole of the Portes du Soleil ski area which includes the popular resorts of Avoriaz, Les Gets, Châtel and Abondance, extending right across the French-Swiss border to Champoussin and Champéry.
Prices at Chalet 1788 start from £2708 / 3250€ (£270/325€ pp) for a seven-night self-catered stay with use of hot tub and sauna.
