Those hoping to become the next chalet-girl-turned-Olympic champion need to learn how to cook first. Luxury chalet operator VIP SKI has created a tailored chalet cookery course to develop the skills and confidence required to run all aspects of a chalet.

With over 25 years of experience creating boutique luxury chalet holidays, and a reputation for delivering impeccable food and service to discerning skiers, VIP SKI is well placed to train up-and-coming hosts.

VIP SKI MD Andy Sturt said: “Newly-recruited chalet hosts have been asking us to recommend cookery courses to hone their pre-season skills for years, so we thought, why not run our own? The level of service and food in our chalets is a priority and our genuine staff are well known for their welcoming and seamless service. If you’re into wintersports there’s no better way to indulge that passion than doing a ski season.”

The course is run in the French Alpine resort of Morzine in one of VIP Ski’s luxury chalets, replete with hot tub. It is delivered by experienced chalet hosts and chefs and designed to teach the realities and challenges of running a property at altitude in winter.

The practical cooking sessions develop the necessary skills and techniques required to cook the VIP SKI chalet menu with flair. Alongside the basic skills and hosting tips, cooks will explore the principles of food preparation, menu planning and how ingredients work together. They will also learn about kitchen hygiene, baking at altitude, catering for dietary requirements and how to pull off the perfect Christmas Day (the nemesis of all new chalet hosts).  There will be a maximum of 6 participants in any session to ensure everyone receives the attention and support they require to progress within the relaxed alpine environment.

Andy Sturt added: “Our cookery courses will teach aspiring chalet staff the fine arts of hosting and provide a platform to practice the skills they require for the approaching season. If they have the confidence and know-how to create fantastic meals and deliver them smoothly from the start, hosts can concentrate on really enjoying their time in the mountains. There is no better way to prepare for a winter at altitude and the skills learnt will make candidates great cooks for life.”

Prices start from £595 per person in a shared twin room or £695 for single occupancy of a double room. Courses run for a week and are available on 3 dates in 2014: departing Sunday 13 July, 31 August and 14 September. The price includes 7 nights’ accommodation in the Morzine luxury chalet, all meals and wine with dinner (dinner not provided on one night off), return resort transfer from Geneva airport, all food for practical cooking sessions, a cheese and wine tasting night and one afternoon activity e.g. white water rafting. Flights are not included. For more information or to book visit www.vip-chalets.com or call 0844 557 3119.
