New Rotary Encoder for Demanding Environments

Report this content

HEIDENHAIN introduces the ROD 1930 rotary encoder series for use in mechanically-demanding motion control environments. With exceptionally rugged bearings, this new incremental encoder can withstand radial shaft loads of 200 N and axial shaft loads of 150 N. The shaft load was determined at a maximal permissible speed of 4000 min–1 during a period of 20,000 hours. With high shaft loads and a formidable housing, the ROD 1930 offers an intermediate solution for HEIDENHAIN customers, closing the gap between standard rotary encoders and our more extreme encoders.

The ROD 1930 is available with HTL or HTLs outputs which facilitates easier connection to many standard programmable logic controllers (PLCs). These outputs are commonly used in heavy duty industries such as paper, crane and material handling technologies.

The ROD 1930 comes in aluminum housing with a 120mm diameter, and is available with a single- or double-ended shaft of 15mm, with feather key. The housing is rated to IP 66.

Cables are connected through terminal box on top of the ROD 1930 housing. The terminal box can face four different directions, allowing for varied mounting configurations. This encoder is available with a number of different mounting accessories such as shaft couplings, bearing housings and adapter flanges.
