Heimstaden Bostad Climbs on CDP Ladder
CDP, which runs the global environmental disclosure system, has granted Heimstaden Bostad a score B on its Climate Change index, a two-step climb from last year’s result.
CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. By participating, companies provide investors with an objective overview on how well they are dealing with climate change.
“We are proud of advancing two steps on the CDP Climate Change index and are pleased that our increased climate focus has been recognised. This score gives our efforts a stamp of approval, and the motivation to continue shaping the industry standard for a more sustainable future”, says Katarina Skalare, Chief Sustainability Officer at Heimstaden.
Amongst Heimstaden Bostad’s recognised efforts, the company has significantly strengthened its sustainability governance and risk management, committed to the Science Based Targets initiative, and taken action to increase value chain oversight. Additionally, factored in is Heimstaden Bostad’s engagement in supporting innovative solutions such as water and energy saving pilot project SmartVatten and Mimbly’s initiative to recycle water and stop microplastics spreading.
After submitting this year’s CDP report, Heimstaden Bostad has set new sustainability targets and will invest SEK 5 billion to reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the Paris Agreement ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The sustainability targets will be sent to the Science Based Targets initiative for validation.
“Although CDP has announced stricter requirements next year, we will with our long-term commitment and sustainable mindset work hard to further improve our score in the years to come,” says Skalare.
