Celebrate Moms Everywhere This Mother’s Day

Each year, we take one day to celebrate the boundless love that mothers give all year round.  Moms help us solve problems, give us a shoulder to cry on and cheer us on from the front row — one day could not ever be enough to celebrate all the ways that they enrich our lives.  Here are some quick and easy ways to make the day special for the moms in your life, and for mothers everywhere.

1. Get Crafty

Remember all those finger paintings that your mom hung on the fridge? They ended up there because they were made by you.  So, instead of rushing to the card store or picking up a sweater at the last minute, why not show your mom that you care with a special handmade card or gift? It might just end up on the fridge like your other masterpieces from childhood.

2. Harness the Power of the Mom Community

Where you can find one mom, you can often find many.  From the Parents Group at your child’s school to mommy bloggers online, the power of mothers in groups can make a huge impact.  Bring mothers in your community together and the possibilities to make a positive difference will be endless. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

3. Celebrate Everyday Superheroes

Moms can do it all.  They are the everyday superheroes that effortlessly balance their children’s lives, and their own.  Take the time to remind the moms in your life what a great job they do every day.  Whether it’s your mom, a friend who’s a new mom or facing other challenges, send an e-card with a special message letting them know you’re thinking of them.  Even moms need a pat on the back sometimes, which you can offer on Mother’s Day or any time of the year.

4. Support Organizations that Empower Mothers

You can honor mothers everywhere this Mother’s Day by supporting organizations that uplift mothers in some of the world’s most challenging places.  Through our programs, Helen Keller International provides tools and education to help mothers living in poverty provide a brighter future for their families.  Lend a hand to a mother in need this Mother’s Day with your donation to Helen Keller International.

Keep the spirit of Mother’s Day alive all year long by showing the mothers in your life, and moms everywhere, that you care.
