Press release 18.11.2013

On 20 November, startup-to-investor pitching event PitchHelsinki combines live-streamed startup pitches with real-time crowdfunding opportunities on a global scale.

Helsinki’s startup buzz continues after Slush when the world’s first real-time equity based crowdfunding event PitchHelsinki Fall 2013 will be live-streamed around the world. The event brings on stage six exciting ICT, music, wellness and cleantech startups looking for crowdfunding. These companies are: Audrey, Avansera, Blogat, Exaget, Playmysong and Tespack. Companies' profiles are available for investors at www.invesdor.com.

Investors around the world have an opportunity to invest in these 6 startups with a special valuation via Invesdor’s crowdfunding online service during Wednesday 20 November. The funding situation can be followed online in real time at www.pitchhelsinki.fi. In addition to the 6 companies seeking for crowdfunding, there are also 7 other interesting startups pitching live at the event.

“Slush 2013 was a great success and now that investors around the world have their eyes on Helsinki and Finland, we wanted to use the opportunity and offer them a way to continue following Finnish startup scene live in action”, says Ari Seppänen from EnterpriseHelsinki.

“Crowdfunding is a fairly new way of investing. It offers growth companies an easy channel to collect funds both in Finland and abroad, and for investors an easy way of participating in the non-listed growth companies. Often the lack of funding is seen as the bottleneck for growth in Finland. Equity based crowdfunding is one tool to override that challenge”, explains Lasse Mäkelä, CEO of Invesdor Ltd.

PitchHelsinki is organized by the service center for entrepreneurs in Helsinki, EnterpriseHelsinki, and the City of Helsinki in collaboration with Aalto University’s Aalto Start-up Center, Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN) and Invesdor Oy. The event has a capacity for 300 participants of investors, entrepreneurs, and collaborators of the startup ecosystem.
