In October 2015, Hemfosa’s joint venture Gardermoen Campus Utvikling (GCU) signed an agreement to develop a local medical center on Gardermoen Campus near Oslo, Norway, adjacent to the specialist hospital the company began building in September of this year. The local medical center, or Helsehus, is now fully leased and its future tenants include a healthcare operation for inhabitants of four neighboring municipalities.

At the very beginning of the project, Hemfosa’s joint venture, GCU, signed a 30-year lease encompassing operation and maintenance with the Municipality of Ullensaker for slightly more than half of the total project area that will contain healthcare operations for neighboring municipalities. Leases have now been signed for the remaining floor space in the property. Landsforeningen for Hjerte og Lungesyke (LHL, the Norwegian Heart and Lung Association), the association that will operate the adjacent specialist hospital, has decided to locate its head office in Helsehuset and has signed a 25-year lease for approximately 2,800 sqm. Other tenants include PTØ, a treatment center for children and adolescents suffering from such disorders as cerebral palsy, and Vitus Apotek, both of which have signed 10-year leases.

“These investments in the development of new healthcare properties in the expansive Gardermoen Campus are a sound complement to the portfolio of community service properties that we have acquired in Norway. We are pleased to now have secured leases with established Norwegian healthcare operators for the remaining floor space in the local medical center, which is scheduled for completion in early 2018,” says Jens Engwall, CEO of Hemfosa.
