Aluminium Systems Provider Honoured for Sustainable Project in Prague

Verl, May 2019. The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum have presented the Green Good Design Award 2019 to heroal. The prizewinning project, AFI Vokovice in Prague, has been equipped with heroal systems and stands out because of its special focus on sustainability.

Located in the Prague district of Vokovice, the complex of buildings called AFI Vokovice, completed in mid-2018, offers around 14,000 sq m of modern office and retail space. Since the building aimed at the LEED Platinum certification, which the project received in January 2019, all decisions on building materials were driven by a special focus on their energy efficiency and sustainability. With their system solutions containing up to 85 % recycled aluminium, heroal was able to make a substantial contribution to the ecological footprint of this project. Around 30 installed elements of the door system heroal D 72, the highly insulated curtain wall system heroal C 50 HI and approximately 1,000 special profiles of the window system heroal W 72 for this project are characterized by their good heat insulation. In addition, more than 600 installed ventilation flaps heroal W 72 VF as well as more than 800 elements of the sun protection system heroal VS Z contribute to the comfortable indoor climate, further increasing the energy efficiency of the whole complex of buildings. „The AFI Vokovice project is very dear to us. Because of its focus on energy efficiency, it represents the future of construction and puts the idea of sustainability on new level. Therefore, it is doubly satisfying for us to have won the Green Good Design Award for this project“, says Domenico Basta, heroal Sales Management Scandinavia, East and South Europe.

The Green Good Design Award is among the Good Design Awards founded in 1950 and is presented every year. Jury members consisting of renowned designers, architects and journalists select projects, products, technologies and concepts which follow an outstanding idea of sustainability.
