HEXAGON ACQUIRES ITALIAN METROLOGY OPERATION Hexagon has acquired the assets of the, bankrupt Italian metrology supplier Poli S.p.A., from the provincial court in Vercelli, Italy. The Acquisition includes an in-ventory of coordinate measurement machines (CMMs) and spare parts, certain manu-facturing equipment as well as immaterial commercial rights and information. The purchase price is set at 1 M.EURO for the assets. Before Poli was made bankrupt it had a sales turn over of approximately 15 M.EURO per annum. Hexagon will, via this acquisition, become the official after market services provider for Poli machines. Hexagon will be able to offer customers that have invested in Polis technology a gradual migration to Hexagons world leading soft ware PC-DMIS as well as offering access to Hexagons extensive after market services organisation. Hexagon is frequently faced with customers asking for a path to migrate from less sophisticated soft ware and hard ware solutions bought from small suppliers of me-trology systems. Without this path the customers are faced with obsolete investments as these suppliers fail to deliver according to their commitments due to diminishing financial resources. Hexagon has therefore created a retrofit and upgrade package that will enable Polis customers to save already done investments in so called parts programmes and at the same time update their metrology systems to PC-DMIS.
