HF Holidays’ UK Festive Walking Breaks

The 12 days of Christmas and more, including Tinsel and Turkey breaks before Christmas, Twixmas and New Year

Celebrate the festive season with fabulous food, lots of entertainment and great walks on a UK Christmas, Twixmas or New Year getaway courtesy of HF Holidays, the UK’s largest walking holiday organisation.

These Festive Guided Walking breaks are based at a choice of its welcoming UK Country Houses – decorated for the season – and combine seasonal guided walks (up to three different options each day to suit every level of walker) amid spectacular winter scenery, with themed Full Board meals and sociable evenings full of festive cheer.      

Get into the mood for the festive season with a pre-Christmas mix of walking and celebrations on a Tinsel and Turkey break. For example, three nights Full Board with all the trimmings start from just £275 on the shores of Derwent Water in the heart of the Lake District, with spectacular views of the lake and magnificent walks including Cat Bells fell and walks around Derwent Water and Buttermere.

At Christmas, there are four-night guided walking breaks starting 23 December which cost £639 and are available, for example, in the rolling countryside of the Derbyshire Dales where highlights include the dales of the White Peak, Derwent Valley or Chatsworth and the Edges.

Accommodation is at Peveril of the Peak Country House – situated in the village of Thorpe  and less than a mile from the famous stepping stones across the River Dove – and, as part of the festive fare, guests can enjoy traditional turkey with all the trimmings on Christmas Day.

Or, for a Twixmas break – ideal for walking off those Christmas excesses – the company has three night breaks starting 27 December which cost £329 at, for example, Moorlands Country House which is set within eight acres of grounds just below Haytor Rocks on Dartmoor.

The walking options take in the wild beauty, rolling hills and high moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with highlights which may include Haytor Rocks, the stunning Teign Gorge, the village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor or the South Devon coastline.

Alternatively, for New Year, guests can head to the fantastic countryside of the Yorkshire Dales – with its hills, valleys, waterfalls and rivers – and enjoy walks amid the remarkable limestone landscape taking in Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Wharfedale. 

Accommodation is at Newfield Hall – a 19th century Country House situated in extensive grounds at Malhamdale.  The four-night New Year options - starting 30 December - cost £579 inclusive of a gala dinner on New Year’s Eve.
