Jan Edhäll new CEO of 3G Infrastructure Services AB - the joint UMTS infrastructure company of Europolitan Vodafone and Hi3G Access Jan Edhäll has been appointed CEO of 3G Infrastructure Services as of 1 June 2001. He comes most recently from Allgon where he was CEO. Prior to this, Jan worked for Ericsson for 24 years, holding a variety of posts both in Sweden and abroad. "We are delighted that Jan has become CEO for our joint infrastructure company. He has a very solid background in the telecoms sector and will be a tremendous asset to 3G Infrastructure Services," said Ulf J. Johansson, chairman of 3G Infrastructure Services AB and Björn Svedberg, vice-chairman, in a joint statement. 3G Infrastructure Services AB will provide Europolitan Vodafone and Hi3G with a UMTS infrastructure covering almost 70% of the population. "This is one of the most exciting and demanding jobs in the telecoms industry in Sweden today," says Jan Edhäll. "My first task will be to recruit skilled people who want to be involved in providing Sweden with this new infrastructure. I am looking forward to fulfilling my assignment of offering a high-quality UMTS network as efficiently as possible," he concludes. Europolitan Vodafone and Hi3G will retain their independence with regard to development, marketing, pricing and the provision of services and contents to their customers. Recently, Orange signed a letter of intent regarding joining 3G Infrastructure Services AB.
