Thalamus Networks acquires the Internet provider and TV company EKTV Thalamus Networks plans to acquire Engelholms Kabel-TV, EKTV. The take- over is worth SEK 30 millions including financing and includes an area, urban and metropolitan network. 9 000 paying customers are also transferred and offered access to Thalamus' range of broadband services. 1996 Thalamus and EKTV were the first companies in Europe to provide tenants with fixed Internet access, and the real estate owner Ängelholmshem with an advanced automatic control system. Thalamus thus strengthens their position as one of the most respected broadband and service suppliers. "This is very pleasing", says Jan Tidelius, CEO of Thalamus Networks. "Since the deal includes an area, urban as well as a metropolitan network it gives us a unique situation in Ängelholm. We also acquire further competence and established contacts for purchasing TV programs. This makes it possible for us to supply TV at competitive prices in other locations as well." Thalamus points out that the purchase is of major importance to the municipality of Ängelholm as well as for Thalamus, who now gets the responsibility to further develop the community's technical lead. "We are flattered by the faith the municipality is showing in us", says Jan Tidelius. "We shall manage it well in close co-operation with the region." The present EKTV Internet and TV customers are looking forward to an even better service range in the future. The same applies to business customers who subscribe to EKTV's fixed Internet access. Thalamus' turnover grows with at least SEK 12 million. The selling parties are local AB Munka-Ljungbybyggen, Ängelholms Energi AB and AB Ängelholmshem. "Through this transaction the long-term co-operation between these companies has come to a logical ending, creating benefits for the customers as well as the region", says Jan-Erik Simre, president of Ängelholmshem. The parties plan to conclude the deal around the turn of the year.Thalamus Networks AB (www.thalamus.se) is the only operator that can offer a complete portfolio of services for intelligent living.
