As the first golf Major of the year gets under way with the Masters Tournament, the distinctive Royal Dornoch wildcat will be quietly stalking the world’s top players in the form of award-winning photographer Matthew Harris.
Harris, a favourite of some of the sport’s biggest names, will be wearing the Royal Dornoch Golf Club wildcat logo on his trademark floppy white hat and polo shirts during the event.
One of the world’s most renowned and respected golf photographers, he will also display the logo at the three other golf majors and the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, bringing worldwide exposure to the Sutherland club.
The arrangement came after the globetrotting photographer visited Royal Dornoch, fell in love with the famous links and surrounding area and decided he wanted to share his passion.
Harris’ eye-catching action pictures and spectacular course landscapes have put him at the upper echelons of his profession. His work features in many leading publications across the world, having visited 57 countries, 108 Majors and 14 Ryder Cups. He is the founder and main contributor to The Golf Picture Library, regarded as the finest collection of golf images from the past quarter century that still remains in private hands.
Seve Ballesteros called him a master of his art and other Major winners Greg Norman and Nick Faldo are among those who have praised his work.
Harris said: “Royal Dornoch is a very special place and one of the finest golf courses I have visited in all my travels. I am very proud to be wearing the club logo at all the major golf tournaments this year.
“I hope it will attract the attention of people attending the events and the millions of people around the world watching and encourage them to visit this wonderful part of the world.”
The historic Royal Dornoch Golf Club is revered around the world by professionals and amateurs alike. In 2016 the club will mark 400 years of golf being played on the town’s links.
This year the famous Championship Course was voted the 6th best golf course in the world by Golf Digest magazine.
